Welcome to Visit Bisbee.org
- An Unofficial Visitors Vacation Guide to Bisbee, Arizona
BISBEE, ARIZONA
is located in Cochise
County, and sits at an elevation of 5,538 feet above sea level.
It was named after Judge DeWitt Bisbee, of San Francicso, one of
the financiers of the Copper Queen Mine. Phelps Dodge halted mining
in Bisbee in 1975, and subsequently sold the mine to Freeport McMoRan
Copper & Gold. View our many photos of Bisbee, AZ below.
Bisbee's hilly terrain, and thousands of stairs and
steps around the town, make it seem like San Francisco to some.
It's narrow and windy roads give others the impression of a European
town.
Old Bisbee has interesting architecture (Victorian/Art
Deco/Western), and friendly people. The hotels, inns, B&B's,
homes, schools and churches in Bisbee all have unique architecture.
The way it blends together makes Bisbee like no other place in Arizona.
There are restaurants, shops and art galleries. The
Copper Queen Mine Tour is fascinating, and you will learn alot about
Bisbee and it's history.
